We hear creaking strings, a gentle harmony and a violin trying to play its melody while being
disrupted. In this mythical performance, five string instruments are being played in a completely
new way, from a very far distance. In a play between gentle harmonies and screaming sounds, we
stand still in the space of the breaking moment of sound.
A Myth for Strings is een korte muzikale compositie die Mees maakte bij The Alternative Conservatoire in Londen. In dit werk worden vijf strijkinstrumenten bespeeld op een absurde wijze, namelijk op tientallen meters afstand door een web van draden. Het werk is een voorstudie voor de grotere performance A Myth die Vervuurt in 2025 zal presenteren.

A Myth for Strings is a short music/physical composition that Mees created at The Alternative Conservatoire in London. In this performance, five string instruments are played in an absurd way. Five people are pulling on and moving through a web of wires, connected to the string instruments.
Together with ‘A Myth for Piano’, this work is a preliminary study for the larger performance ‘A Myth’ that Vervuurt will present in 2025.
